Australia to implement mandatory internet censorship

Posted: 10/31/2008 by Floyd in Labels:

Well, it is the Halloween season but this is really scary. I wonder how long it will be before America jumps aboard the censorship wagon?

The revelations emerge as US tech giants Google, Microsoft and Yahoo, and a coalition of human rights and other groups unveiled a code of conduct aimed at safeguarding online freedom of speech and privacy. The government has declared it will not let internet users opt out of the proposed national internet filter. The plan was first created as a way to combat child pronography and adult content, but could be extended to include controversial websites on euthanasia or anorexia. Communications minister Stephen Conroy revealed the mandatory censorship to the Senate estimates committee as the Global Network Initiative, bringing together leading companies, human rights organisations, academics and investors, committed the technology firms to "protect the freedom of expression and privacy rights of their users". Mr Conroy said trials were yet to be carried out, but "we are talking about mandatory blocking, where possible, of illegal material."

The World Browser a new toy for me, testing it out

Posted: by Floyd in Labels:

TheWorld Browser is a tiny, fast, yet free, secure and powerful web browser. It features a tabbed interface with multi-threaded frame browser.
TheWorld Browser uses the Microsoft Internet Explorer engine. We currently support Windows 98/me/2000/xp/Vista.
TheWorld Browser 2.0 has a new, powerful multi-threaded window frame, which prevents the browser from freezing. Even if one web page is unresponsive, the rest will not be affected. In developing TheWorld Browser 2.0, we have rewritten and rebuilt all the codes and modules from version 1.x. The new framework is built to provide you with a richer Internet browsing experience.

Found a new one on the scene, well knew to me anyway. This browser works with the IE engine and it impressed me with it's looks, especially this skin; Pinstripe,,,this is one of the sleekest nice looking skins I have saw lately. I have not put this one through the wringer yet but it seems to be like Google Chrome on the tabs (if one crashes or freezes the others won't) as of yet it has not frozen up and seems to work well,,I am using the IE-8 Beta-2 right now and this browser works like it does but better.

One feature I like is you can scroll the tabs like that FireFox extension, it is not on by default but you can turn it on in your set-up, this one is not hard on my memory either at least so far, however, I did see some spikes in it but it leveled out, still testing it so I don't know that much about the browser as of yet but on first impressions looks and preforms very well to me, cheers.

GM, Chrysler request $10 billion another economy victim

Posted: 10/28/2008 by Floyd in Labels:

Another victim of the economy seems to be GM who is going to merge with Chrysler, all I can say is what a mess;

NEW YORK/DETROIT (Reuters) - General Motors Corp and Cerberus Capital Management have asked the U.S. government for roughly $10 billion in an unprecedented rescue package to support a merger between GM and Chrysler LLC, two sources with direct knowledge of the talks said on Monday.
The government funding would include roughly $3 billion in exchange for preferred stock in the merged automaker, according to one of the sources, who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
The U.S. Treasury Department is considering a request for direct aid to facilitate the merger and a decision could come this week, sources familiar with the still-developing government response said earlier on Monday.

Have you tried Maxthon before? This is a neat little browser I belive that I have wrote in this blog about Maxthon 2, but not the classic version. This browser is quick and supports tabbed browsing, but the main reason I like it is it uses less memory than the others I've tried, my experience with the classic version is it don't use maybe half the memory as my other browsers, this might vary under different uses etc,etc. I am simply stating that it is using way less memory than Opera,Firefox or IE for me.

Here is a screenshot of Maxthon Classic I made; This is in the 'no skin' selection mode, it has many skins that can be applied to it also.

Husqvarna’s New Solar-Powered Robot will Mow Your Lawn : CleanTechnica

Well it is close to winter here now so we don't have to worry about cutting the grass to much lately, but next year is a different story entirely and Husqvarna might have hit on something with this solar powered mower. Let me say this about Husqvarna, every product that I have purchased with this name on it I have came out with a good product, so giving this a try might be in the works for me next year when it comes to mowing season again;

The 18 volt, 4 amp Auto Mower 230 can take care of a lawn of up to 3/4 acre on its own, cutting up to 1300 square feet per hour and running 90 minutes on a single charge. The mower operates practically silently and has “collision sensors,” which react to garden furniture, trees, pets and whatever else in its path. The little guy is even equipped with anti-theft protection.

Best Interview Ever: Barbara West vs. Joe Biden

Posted: 10/25/2008 by Floyd in Labels:

In one of the beast interviews I've seen Barbara West hit Joe Biden with question after question right out of the McCain playbook and he walked away a winner to say the least, with question after question with no substance whatsoever Biden answered with poise and grace. A little into this interview you have to ask yourself, Barbara what point are you trying to raise? After this interview I am totally impressed with Biden, he walked away a winner;

I just thought this video would go nicely with this interview, the questions are to easy and Biden is much to good for this trap.

Americans just help Americans when it comes down to it

This story over at KOS kind of stuck with me and one of the reasons it did is because just yesterday I was watching on CNN concerning a forum set up discussing race and role playing if you will about this. So when I read this story over at KOS it made me think and think also of the unstable individual in Pittsburgh who was a volunteer for the McCain campaign who had initially charged that a tall black man had assaulted her and carved a letter 'B' on her cheek, this story needless to say was picked up by the right extremists and was tried to spin every which way.

The story of course turned out to be false but it pains us to know that the story was trying to be put forth in a negative way even before the facts came out. Michelle Malkin who is a conservative blogger had her doubts from the beginning and proved to be one of the leveled headed bloggers on the conservative side out there.

Michele Malkin; I’ve reported on the great lengths that warped attention-seekers have gone to in perpetrating fake hate crimes, including beating themselves up, carving swastikas on their dorm room doors and walls, locking themselves in bathroom stalls, and burning down their own houses.

It was even reported that a McCain aide tried to push the story with this statement;
John McCain's Pennsylvania communications director told reporters in the state an incendiary version of the hoax story about the attack on a McCain volunteer well before the facts of the case were known or established -- and even told reporters outright that the "B" carved into the victim's cheek stood for "Barack," according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions.

Let's promote another story one you may not have heard of yet, let's promote a story of how Americans really help other Americans in a time of crisis one the news might have left out or just push to the side it concerns two hero's working together let's read;

We arrived around 1:00 PM, parked the Redneckmobile and got in line at the WW I Memorial.  The line was already several thousand people long.  We waited in line for about 2 hours, then another hour or so in the crowd.  It was amazing!  No friction, no short tempers, nada!  And, buddy, we were packed in like sardines.
About an hour before Barack was to take the stage... my dear wife has a massive asthma attack!  She drops unconcious to the ground.  I am unable to even pick her up because of my disability.  A young black man we had been chatting with immediately picks her up and literally runs out of the crowd carrying her.  On the way, a young white man joins the procession... they both run for the edge of the crowd and yell for the EMS personnel on site.

The white man, Alex, happens to be an Iraq Veteran... not just any Veteran, but a combat medic... he immediately starts first aid with an inhaler my wife carries in her purse.  It seemed like hours before EMS got there.  My wife stopped breathing altogether, Alex immediately picked her up and started running for the ambulance about 200 feet away.  Dumping her in the ambulance, the Medical team, along with Alex immediately start trying to force Oxygen into her and administering CPR.  As soon as she was reasonably stabilized, it was off to Truman Medical Center in KC, just a few blocks away.  Arriving there, they immediately intubated her and put her on a respirator.  She spent two days on the respirator, coming off yesterday.  She is very weak but is expected to recover.

Americans at times have different points of view they see things different than others do and in this election cycle I hope that Americans continue to be the great Americans we are and that with every bad story out there there are always good story's out there also, ones about what Americans do best and that is helping other Americans.

John McCain is really trying to distance himself from one of the most unpopular presidents in history.

In an interview published today in the Washington Times, the Republican presidential nominee gave his longest list yet of where he disagrees with President Bush.

"Spending, the conduct of the war in Iraq for years, growth in the size of government, larger than any time since the Great Society, laying a $10 trillion debt on future generations of America, owing $500 billion to China, obviously, failure to both enforce and modernize the [financial] regulatory agencies that were designed for the 1930s and certainly not for the 21st century, failure to address the issue of climate change seriously," McCain said aboard his campaign plane en route from New Hampshire to Ohio.

"Those are just some of them," he said with a laugh.

Watchdog group files complaint against Palin,,"shopping spree'

It seems America that the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed a federal election Commission complaint Thursday against Palin, according to CREW, FECA specifically prohibits a candidate for federal office from converting campaign funds to personal use.

Now look America Sarah is just showing how the other half lives that's all, I mean when it comes to 'Joe six-pack' and paying that mortgage and looking out for the little guy you have a friend in Palin.

And you all know that since she got caught, it is all going to charity so it starts bad and ends kinda well. Oh wait a minute I forgot about something,,hmm, what about the money that was donated, oh shucks that's the breaks, ya all' know that girl be looking good.

O.k seriously, if I had given them money even if it was just 10 bucks I would be steaming right now, because if you look at it there is just no way to spin this into anything other than stupidity that in a time of economic uncertainty it is irrational and also idiotic to do even close to this kind of thing and even more disturbing is that at least 42% of Americans think that the McCain/Palin ticket is somehow aligned with average America.

(CBS) Since she's been on the campaign trail, Sarah Palin has received a lot of attention over her wardrobe, her hair, even her glasses.
Now, is reporting the Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 on clothes and accessories for Palin and her family.
Politico says the expenditures began early last month, soon after Palin was picked by John McCain to be his running mate.

Palin frequently wears expensive designer clothes on the campaign trail now, points out CBS News correspondent Meg Oliver.

Spending records filed with the Federal Election Commission and obtained by Politico show the RNC paid for "campaign accessories" from upscale department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, where nearly $50,000 was spent, Neiman Marcus, $75,000, and $4,700 for hair and makeup.
"The problem with this for the campaign," explains Politico Chief Political Writer Mike Allen, "is it's the kind of thing that can stick in people's minds. At a time when they're cutting back on their own spending, they see a candidate looking extravagant."

And that, observes Oliver, could pose a political risk.

Local News sees Iowa voters furious over robo calls

Hey we all hate those calls that come in mostly when we set down to dinner, I even went as far as to get on a do not call list. McCain himself told a supporter at a rally that Obama was no one to fear, just someone whom he disagreed with. These tactics just do not work and makes voters angry and might even turn independents who have thought of voting for McCain against him.

John McCain’s robocalls, which are bombarding swing-state voters with the message that Barack Obama “worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers,” are reportedly scaring children who make the mistake of answering their phones. Sarah Palin, who may or may not realize she’s on a sinking ship, says she disapproves of the robocalls.   Truthdig

Group hired by GOP dupes unsuspecting citizens

Posted: 10/18/2008 by Floyd in Labels:

SACRAMENTO -- Dozens of newly minted Republican voters say they were duped into joining the party by a GOP contractor with a trail of fraud complaints stretching across the country.

Voters contacted by The Times said they were tricked into switching parties while signing what they believed were petitions for tougher penalties against child molesters. Some said they were told that they had to become Republicans to sign the petition, contrary to California initiative law. Others had no idea their registration was being changed.

Boy talk about sinking to a new low, the citizens thought they were signing a petition to combat child abuse, but instead the group signed them up as Republicans, if they wanted to lie and trick folks into joining they should have used another tactic instead of using a dubious petition against child molesters, hopefully some prosecutions will occur in this.

The Times randomly interviewed 46 of the hundreds of voters whose election records show they were recently re-registered as Republicans by YPM, and 37 of them -- more than 80% -- said that they were misled into making the change or that it was done without their knowledge.

McCain calls middle class welfare

Posted: by Floyd in Labels:

Remember all you McCain people when you go in the voting booth, remember this quote;

Senator Obama claims that wants to give a tax break to the middle class, but not only did he vote for higher taxes on the middle class in the Senate, his plan gives away your tax dollars to those who don't pay taxes. That's not a tax cut, that's welfare.

Yep this is something to think back on, this is someone who thinks the middle class is a welfare state. You guys don't need any tax breaks or relief, because, somehow, you don't pay enough to even count and if we give you guys a tax break well, we just could not give out enough "Corporate Welfare" to make up the difference.

Now I have to say I will be sorely disappointed if Obama lets this attack and outright  lie continue with out calling him out on it, because last time I checked those of us that make under $250,000 had to pay taxes. To me this is not only an attack on Obama's plan it is basically attacking us as a whole.

In order to get more publicity for his dying campaign McCain has apparently called "Joe the Plumber" to help him on the trail, Joe has been moving up in the world and could be making over $250,000 year and folks if he is he can afford to pay more than us, there is no argument here McCain is simply grasping at straws now.

Real Deal on ‘Joe the Plumber’ Reveals New Slant -

Posted: 10/17/2008 by Floyd in Labels:

This article in the N.Y Times about Joe the Plumber has got me to thinking and you know I don't do this to much, anyway while watching the debate last night and seeing McCain take a rather thrashing I must comment or rather give my opinion on this.
At the end of the article in the Times, Joe said he still got the tap dance around the issue and added the little saying to it "almost as good as Sammy Davis Jr."
Frankly I am getting sick and tired of people when explained something in plain English they still like McCain "don't get it", it is a simple thing that Obama has stated over and over again, if someone makes over $250,000 dollars a year their tax would go up some, if you make less the tax will go down and as income goes down then your tax continues down.
What is so hard to understand about this, for an example what I make now I would save about three times as much on taxes with Obama's plan than McCain and I will add that it does not go on what the business is worth it goes on what you make yearly.
I have done a little plumbing myself and did not make anything close to $250,000 a year and if I did I could afford to pay more than the $40,000 a year guys, every time someone wants to step up to the plate and do something for the middle class it always comes down to ignorance of the plans these guys have put forward in this campaign it is crystal clear here who is looking out for the backbone of America and I live in a red state, Kentucky, but, there is no way I will miss to vote in this election.
I am blessed also to have an education and be able to read simple English to know who is going to look out for me in this election, if the average wage earner makes money then he or she will have more money to put back into the economy.

Combat Poverty and move forward

Posted: 10/15/2008 by Floyd in Labels:

About 25,000 people die each day from hunger or hunger related causes and tragically a big portion of those are children. Trapped in poverty the hungry become ill and succumb to disease, while for the most part we live in a world that has food and I do stress for the most part, however, there are many right here in the United States that also feel the pains of hunger.

The poverty in 2007 in the U.S was about the same as 2006 according to the census bureau which puts it at 12.5%, to combat poverty in the U.S the Obama/Biden ticket plan to put in affect some goals to combat the Americans who are in poverty and have a hard time of making ends meet. One of the plans that is in the works is to create a 'Green Jobs Corps' Obama and Biden will create a program to directly engage disadvantaged youth in energy efficiency opportunities to strengthen their communities, while also providing them with practical skills in this important high-growth career field.

In the U.S it is all about job creation there are many Americans living from paycheck to paycheck and are only one step away from living in poverty themselves, this is one of the reasons it pains me to see McCain trying to defend his stab at an economic plan when the major cuts are going to the upper class and would widen the gap between average hard working Americans and the wealthy as if the gap is not wide enough now he wants to widen it even further, all americans need to be educated on just what these two individuals are preposing and how it would affect them.

By giving incentives to the working middle class and to the poor of this country it would allow them to purchase more goods from small business therefore helping them out, that is why many small businesses are endorsing the plan of Obama because if the majority of Americans have money then the business will prosper also. I think that in this election we need to be more concerned than ever and in moving this country forward because the least thing we want is to increase poverty here.

Poll: Obama Opens 14-Point Lead On McCain

Posted: by Floyd in Labels:

(CBS) Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is entering the third and final presidential debate Wednesday with a wide lead over Republican rival John McCain nationally, a new CBS News/New York Times poll shows.
The Obama-Biden ticket now leads the McCain-Palin ticket 53 percent to 39 percent among likely voters, a 14-point margin. One week ago, prior to the Town Hall debate that uncommitted voters saw as a win for Obama, that margin was just three points.
Among independents who are likely voters - a group that has swung back and forth between McCain and Obama over the course of the campaign - the Democratic ticket now leads by 18 points. McCain led among independents last week.

Seems as though Obama might be connecting more with Independent voters out there, tomorrow is the final debate for the two candidates and it seems the economy is driving the vote more than ever this election. We are in hard times and McCain has not been saying that much about the economy and that says a lot or it should, this should have been his main theme from the beginning.

McCain Plans Federal Health Cuts -

God help us all;

John McCain would pay for his health plan with major reductions to Medicare and Medicaid, a top aide said, in a move that independent analysts estimate could result in cuts of $1.3 trillion over 10 years to the government programs.

The Republican presidential nominee has said little about the proposed cuts, but they are needed to keep his health-care plan "budget neutral," as he has promised. The McCain campaign hasn't given a specific figure for the cuts, but didn't dispute the analysts' estimate.

Douglas Holtz-Eakin, Sen. McCain's senior policy adviser, said Sunday that the campaign has always planned to fund the tax credits, in part, with savings from Medicare and Medicaid.

ANCHORAGE -- In a lawsuit filed in Alaska Superior Court, a Republican activist seeks to force Gov. Sarah Palin to produce copies of official correspondence she sent and received on private e-mail accounts. Andrée McLeod filed the suit Wednesday and publicized it in a news release today. "Rather than using her state e-mail account, throughout her two-year tenure as Governor of Alaska, defendant Sarah Palin, as a matter of routine, has used, and, on information and belief, continues to use, (at least) two private e-mail accounts... to conduct official business of the State of Alaska," the suit alleges. The suit is the latest front in a battle McLeod is waging over Palin's e-mail. In June, she filed an open-records request and received four boxes of redacted e-mails. But more than 1,100 others were withheld, an action Palin justified by claiming executive privilege. McLeod appealed that claim last month before going to court last week.
