Authorities said that the RNC Welcoming Committee had been planning and training to block delegates from getting to the convention in downtown St. Paul, to attack police lines and even break into the Xcel Energy Center, where the convention is scheduled to open Monday morning.

Floyd, as of this morning, President Bush won't be at the RNC and neither will McCain and his veep. Pundits are questioning how much the Republicans should "convention" because of Gustav. I wonder if the convention can be postponed? Probably not, but it hardly seems fair. Dems got their chance to party and make with the political rhetoric; Repubs should also. But--Republicans probably feel they need to scale back, after Bush et al's failures during and after Katrina.

I think you are right, after the complete failure by the administration and FEMA combined, I think they will do better this time around especially since we are this close to the election.

In fact I think Obama and McCain will be there in the aftermath of this storm, what scares me the most is the levees are not up to specs and I heard the govenor this morning giving excuses on this behalf.

You know after all this time the work is still ongoing and experts attest to the fact that the completed ones are sub-standard themselves, I posted recently about Gustav heading in and linked it to another article in the post written in 2006 about the levees that were built then, that was two years ago when the experts were talking about this.

lets keep 'all' the Gulf Coast in our prayers and hope for the best that not any loss of life occurs during this storm.
