Democrats Dug In?

First of all I have a serious problem with Bolten's statement of the Democrats 'dug in' so to speak on this time line on Iraq, personally they have bent over backwards and far beyond what should have been done to try and comprise on Iraq. It is obvious who does not want any kind of comprise on this issue and it is mostly the Republicans, not all but mostly.

What really caught my attention in this Times article is the little paragraph at the bottom and the statement is thus, The Democratic leaders also took on the administration over its threat to veto a Pentagon policy measure this week, particularly White House objections to the costs of a 0.5 percent military pay increase above the 3 percent approved by the White House and an additional $40 monthly in survivors’ benefits. This speaks volumes of how things really are taking place, you know we have to save that 40 bucks, it seems as I said before the Dems are bending over backwards but we still have some holding up progress and hopefully the next election day will rectify this. Gas in this state has now topped the three dollar point and juice and pork chops at Wal-mart have increased another 25 cents since last week, which goes back to my point for the last year and that being someone has to pay for this mess.
At least the Dems are trying to make a stand and hold some kind of benchmarks to get out of this mess that is killing our children and putting us in the poor house, I say to Reid and the rest just keep sending the bill back, Nancy has said something will be available by Memorial Day, and I say to Nancy; Only if you go along with holding none accountable and none responsible for this mess is all that will be accepted, since Bolten has said the Dems are dug in, he should have stated the real facts and that being 'we know we are the minority, but we want no bipartisanship with you we want you, to see it our way or no way.

It is nothing less than pure stupidity for the Whitehouse, Bush that is, to threaten to veto the Veteran's and widow's pay raise. I believe more than three hundred voted for it, with only 27 against. Bush has no hope of a veto sticking on this one.

I agree Jim, that part of the article was like stupidity in it's purest form. I am glad you put me wise on the number voting for that, I knew it had to be a huge number. For any of them who claim to support our troops and stand against this is hypocritical on their part, and what they really stand against is accountability on this mess, some kind of guidelines need established or benchmarks if you will, they claim to listen to generals in the field,,problem is, when the generals do not go along they are replaced with other generals. The veteran's and widow's pay raise and threaten to veto it shows just where one's priorities lie.

I checked it out: 397-27 ! Why bother to say you're going to veto that ? Just who are they playing to ? Certainly not any Americans !
