Ineffectiveness

This is a good title also on how the Bush administration deals with any issue brought before it,this concerns the National Governors Association,it seems a lot of the states are in trouble concerning
the border problem with Mexico. It also seems a lot of the states are worried about cost incurred to them due to the influx of illegal immigrants to this country mainly coming from south of the border, this drives up the cost of health care and the state footing the bill of course along with the tax payers like me and you. Bush and the administration turn as usual a blind eye to anything to which don't make them a quick buck, after all this just drives down wages and squeezes the middle-class a little more and I could see clearly why the administration does not see what is happening. Turning a blind eye to port security why worry about the land border, the administration wants those who help fund 9/11 to be in charge of our eastern seaports I mean really that says it all, the ineffectiveness is very clear to me, how blind have we become? Blogging isn't getting any easier these days it is getting harder by the days and it seems everyday another thing has happened, and after a while it just sounds like you are trying to teach a second grade class or something. Sometimes I wonder if we have just become numb from all the incompetence that we are wittiness to and at times it seems we have given up blindly following a failed plan and not realizing the road to take? Once we become smart enough to know there is no plan at all that it is all smoke and mirrors, then we begin to learn but until then we deal with incompetence,we deal with scandals and yes we deal with ineffectiveness.

Practice what you preach.

This could have been called the big sale-out for freedom but I like the title practice what you preach,it seems lately the president and everyone close to him have been running around the country trying to sell us on the notion of the NSA spying for our own good. And Chertoff wow talk about dumb, he is running around trying to concentrate on Homeland Security while selling out the ports of this country to the United Arab Emirates,to which some involved with 9/11 were tied to, and it seems that all the administration is doing is blank talk and they have no interest in fighting terror at all except when it benefits them personally. How can they talk about securing the borders of this country and talk about handing part of the borders over to the U.A.E.,what an idiotic move by the administration and Chertoff in the lead, this is a man very concerned with our security and safety? Now we really need the NSA to spy on Americans so I suppose the U.A.E. controlling our ports is fine with America also,I think maybe next they should consider Fidel watching our southeastern ports and making sure they are safe and secure, sarcasm you might say,,well it is the cold hard facts, the administration can talk the talk, but they can't walk the walk. Chertoff stated "We make sure there are assurances in place,in general, sufficient to satisfy us that the deal is appropriate from a national security standpoint." Sounds real good but is not this the guy (Chertoff) who also said not long ago that the Mexican military who crossed into Texas was an overblown deal? The same guy who made a circus out of Katrina, was not he the guy in ultimate charge? Yes Mike Brown had the title with FEMA,but Chertoff was the one who was supposed to be in charge of Mike Brown. You take all this mess and add that Continental Stevedoring & Terminals Inc.,has filed suit in a Florida court challenging the deal. Is Chertoff supposed to be part of the axis that is keeping us safe? It seems the war on terror is a smoke screen, and it seems also that lately the smoke is beginning to clear.

Verizon sued

Aparrently Verizon has been sued due to illegal wire-tapping,I would call it fall-out from the NSA spying scandal and would guess that more law suits will follow. The administration contends that it is perfectly legal to use wire-tapping the question being where do you draw the line in what is supposed to be a free society? The attorney general when questioned also stood behind the administration and maintains the taps are legal without a court order, noone is above the law but here lately it seems more and more that the administration seems to do as it pleases and simply states it is legal and the public like sheep seem to follow that trend. But if Americans feel that it is O.K. to spy on them who am I to judge, back when the story broke it was said only to create back-log for the F.B.I and really accomplishes nothing but yet they insist it is needed and until America says we have had enough then this is come to be expected.

This is big business again trying to rob the American worker,I would agree Mexican's need to be able to work if they are here and legal. This is not something were the business themselves are worried about the Hispanic community, this is an attempt to lower the wage down around seven bucks an hour for going under a mountain and risking your life. Not being properly trained and dying under those mountains, thanks again to the UMWA for input in to this reckless abandon for human life in order to make a quick buck. Just as Tom Miller said this is bull crap, this is a means to lower the wage it is not to benefit the Hispanic community as a whole, the whole of Pike County Ky. might be at about 1% Hispanic and right now there are thousands to actually fill the jobs they are speaking of,plenty enough to take those jobs if this were on the up and up.

The oil factor

President Bush thinks we should go back to processing nuclear fuel and he will ask for $250 million that would be a down payment, the cost would be about 1.8 billion over three years and 13 billion over a 10 year period and some estimates put the cost toward 250 billion. We abandoned the reprocessing of nuclear fuel in 1970 because of nuclear proliferation concerns,,hmm.
Meanwhile,,Condi talking tough to Chavez,he sales the United States around 1.5 billion barrels of oil a day,he has three refineries and about 14,000 gas stations in the United States. Everyone would agree we need to work on alternative fuel sources for us there are a lot out there other than nuclear, people are talking about ethanol and the electric cars that are still really in their testing phase. Far as a plan goes they are like a duck out of water and like I always say we can talk all we want but there must be action, all this retheric will get us nowhere and untill we get someone willing to turn the talk into action we have accomplished nothing.

More red tape from FEMA

Posted: 2/16/2006 by Floyd in Labels:

Well the site where the trailers are staged in Hope Arkansas was toured today almost six months after the actual hurricane Katrina devestated the Gulf Coast, spokesman for FEMA earlier had stated the trailers were being damaged and ready to be junked. Well the people on the scene disagree there are 10,777 manufactured homes (trailers) staged in the Hope Arkansas area,a John McDermont and Jerry Hall stated "there is no damage" talk about incompetence. A represenative from Arkansas (D) Mike Ross is going to talk to Homeland Security today about this mess, only last week 12,000 or so were kicked out of hotels by FEMA these people could use these trailers,I ask you now, does anyone know what to do in Washington? Mr. Ross also said FEMA was planning to haul 6-8 million dollars worth of gravel to Arkansas to sit these trailers on,this just gets better and better don't it? I would like to take the time to thank (D)Mike Ross of Arkansas who has a lot of common sense, they (CNN) threw out there that FEMA has said they hoped to get a better reception in Louisiana, you know the same crap they use all the time well Mike had his act together. "Some parishes do not allow manufactured homes, however most of them do,and not one of the 10,777 trailers, not even one has been taken anywhere in the Gulf," FEMA has said it can't sit them(the trailers)in a flood zone which happens to be the ninth ward, imagine that. Another quote I liked was,"what they need is a good dose of common sense."
So will any of the displaced people of the Gulf get any of these maybe,at least they are talking about it in the news again and maybe not,but I wish CNN and others in the media would quit using those stupid cliches and coddling to indiscriminate ramblings, but it is nice to see them run into someone who makes them to be the fools they are.

Chertoff takes the heat but will things change? It seems anymore that everyone is talking but nothing is getting done,it seems noone knows what to do anymore. The same ole same ole thing, but another day and here we are knowing the administration knew of the devestation in New Orleans not to mention Mississippi but yet being slugish on getting the job done, trailers from FEMA are sinking in the Arkansas mud and noone yet knows what to do. So this is where we are and the trailers are still collecting dust in Hope Arkansas, talk about incompetence, one question posed to Mike was why Mike Brown was in charge? Are now they mad at Mr.Brown because he fingered them? Looks like they may be you see America when you break it down within reason, you can begin to see the light and understanding of this mess. Mr. Brown had no kind of experience in matters such as Katrina, does that mean Chertoff is more competent than Brown? No way the whole bunch is out of the loop, and why they came up with local being responsible is byond me; First Chertoff should been in contact with the federal response after all Chertoff is boss, well if we fire Chertoff next who then will be in charge? Chertoff made the big mistakes but the cold hard facts is he still is or the new FEMA head, you know the Admiral well the trailers are still sitting, this is incompetence of the administration in general not just one individual, this is conservative government at its best and basically the country is left a total wreck in their wake.

This has been brewing for a long time and what is actually brewing is this; Comapanies want to dictate what happens in your off-time,sound stupid? That is the bottom line this is not simply about smoking cigarettes it is something deeper than that and would again border on communism, you may be a little overweight, you may be a homosexual, you may smoke, you may even eat at McDonald's but that is it in a nutshell. All of the pre-mentioned things could be skewed as unsafe and or unhealthy, and the question would be do you want the company controlling your life off-the-job? It seems everthing is following the lead of the conservative government in wanting control of our very lives, does America want these controls? That also is a viable question because anymore I do not know the answer. Simply put the answer could be skewed by the media, because frankly anymore the media is becoming untrustworthy. My case and point being this; The cartoon incident, the Abramoff scandal, the state of the economy,wire-tapping issue,Iraq War and a lot more to numerous to name all these have been skewed in one way or another by the media. It seems anymore liberty has been thrown to the side and we begin to embrace control, not only by the government, but now by our jobs.

The Katrina catastrophe

Posted: 2/10/2006 by Floyd in Labels:

Documents released say government knew of the levees breached on Aug 29th. the day Katrina roared ashore,a timeline of e-mails and weather reports pieced together by Senate Democrats indicate, the Bush administration new as early as 8:30 a.m. EST about the levee failures and that these would lead to massive flooding. So six months later we are slowly finding out some of the truth,it should be clear in our minds as we watched dumbfounded and glued to our televisions and saw first hand the government in torpid spin, and not really knowing how to handle such a situtation. I was watching on CNN the night they asked former head of FEMA Mr.Brown about the stranded and dying at the convention center,he said he did not even know anyone was at the convention center? How the press conferences came one after the other with no one really knowing what on earth to do,and to this day the apathy of FEMA still not knowing what to do its as if we should be telling them how to run the system,"you guys have the trailers collecting dust down there, just give the trailers to the victims please." One blames Washington and Washington blames the Gulf, and some have said maybe just maybe that the officials in Louisiana are to blame,I have not heard from Mississippi lately the Gov.Barbour must have everything under control or the mainstream media just does not want to report about it,bad publicity for conservatives? "There is enough blame to go around," I have heard this till it makes me nauseated. You can not compare these local governments to the Federal government how dumb does the media think we are? What they are saying people is the local government should have the resources to build a major city from scratch, does that sound logical in any way? Should we blame New Orleans because it can not rebuild itself without the help of the federal government? What about the insurance companies we can't let them off either,a lot of these people paid their premiums and still got the shaft,I do not see any media running around asking questions of the insurance companies bowing out of their commitments. What happened down there in the Gulf should be a wake-up call for America, after the media feeding frenzy died so did the hopes of those folks in the Gulf states,a couple of weeks ago CNN did a story about a grand-mother and her 14 year old grand-daughter who lived with her staying in a small make shift hut,she had been arguing with the insurance company ever since Katrina had hit and dystroyed their home well they had not settled yet,but guess what? They did the next day after CNN ran the story, and like AC said,"we can't go to every individual family,we would if we could, but we can not." Have you seen anyone in high office get up and address this problem? Its all red tape of an ineffective handeldling of a very big catastrophe, the trouble is they're all still walking around with their hands in their pockets.

Facing some opposition in his own Republican party Flecther continues his crusade against pervailing wage, in the state of Kentucky. He will be up for election in 2007 what he is doing is trying to drum up big business support, while throwing salt in our face. Flecthers poll numbers now hovering at about 36% approval rating. O.K I found another link it is hovering around 31%,heck of a job Ernie but he has till 2007 it could turn around? Worker sues Governor

Pikeville,Ky. A state employee has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that she was passed over for a promotion for political reasons. Almeda Wireman, age 46,of Jackson filed the suit Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Pikeville against Gov. Ernie Flecther and the state Transportation Cabinet. The suit claims Flecther and others were involved in a political package deal that deprived her of a promotion in 2004. Wireman did not learn until last month the "true reason" she was not promoted to highway district administrative manager in news accounts of a tape-recorded conversation released during the attorney general's investigation into state hiring practices.
A phone call between the former transportation personnel director Douglas Doerting and ex-district engineer Sam Beverage "clearly implicates Gov. Flecther in setting up the package deal to give the job to Billy Montgomery, who lacked a requisite college degree," stated wireman's attorney,Ned Pillersdorf. The suit alleges such deals violated the state's merit-system laws and the civil rights of Wireman,a right-of-way purchasing agent. Flecther spokesman Brett Hall said Wendnesday that the hiring dicision "was absolutely not based on politics." "If she had been the superior candidate, she would have been hired," Hall said.(Information from Lexington Herald Leader)

Kentucky Rep. proposes ban on ABORTION

Posted: by Floyd in Labels:
2

Some Kentucky lawmakers are trying to ban abortion, this would be in direct conflict with the 1973 abortion case Roe v. Wade. Nearly 40 House members have tagged their names to the plan, sponsored by Boone County Rep.Addia Wuchner(Republican)which that part you would have guessed already. It would create a challenge to Federal law,Wucher said. Rep. Wuchner first announced her plans at a Capital rally last week, under her proposal a woman would be considered legally pregnant starting at fertillization, and the state law would declare "each human being is totally unique immeadiately at fertilization. " If passed Wucher said, the plan would "probably be challenged in courts." (Republican)Gov. Ernie Flecther's spokeswoman Jodi Witaker said the governor has "always been a strong supporter" of such legislation. But she went further to comment,"it appears to raise issues concerning Roe v. Wade," she was quoted as saying in a statement. "In the past, the governor has supported legislation that exempts rape and incest." This is another direct quote from Wucher; "The point is for the state to decide where we stand on abortion first of all. And we could do that by our vote here on the House floor." Rep. Mary Lou Marzian( D)-Louisville said,it showed "no respect" for women's privacy and would be unconstitutional, she went on to say,a return to the days when abortions were illegal would jepardize women's safety. When abortion was outlawed in the past,it led to maiming of women,Marzian said. Rep. Kathy Stein(D)Lexington, was quoted as saying the reconstituted Supreme Court may have given hope to anti-abortion advocates. She went on to say this is a big election year in Kentucky the biggest ballot she has seen,"I think a lot of my colleagues are willing to jump on the bandwagon and sell out the women of Kentucky."Sarah Grant who is a retired social worker from Louisville said such a move "would be a tragedy." "I think that needs to remain to be an option for people to have that choice for the health of the mother, the health of the fetus,I think it's important for a choice to remain available for people that need that opportunity."(reporter Joe Biesk statehouse reporter for the associated press)
This is the kind of thing I hate and I am a man yes a man,who believes it is a woman's right to do with her own body what she decides to do,it should be between her and her family and whatever conclusion they would come to not the government. And I would also agree that these anti-abortion radicals know that the court has been stacked in their favor, everyone of these so called court appointments by the King should have been fillabustered we should have talked more to our Represenatives and Senators, and now our children and grand-children will have to pay for this mess. The conservatives always preach "smaller government" well if you believe that I have some ocean front property in Arizona I can sell you. All they have shown me is bigger government with more control of the people and their daily lives from warrantless wiretapping to control of females of this nation, heck of an agenda guys that is something you can be proud of. But this issue will not rest not until these radicals have their way and put women back in the dark ages, and the alleyways of this nation this kind of logic can only hurt the women of this country giving them less options and infringing on their privacy. I hope everyone who reads this blog in the state of Kentucky and the nation to vote in November it does not matter about the polls, most of the media is on the radical right just go vote for yourself and also the women who read this vote for you,yes for you for your rights as Americans to be equal in the sight of men and of God and when you vote send these Repugs packing.

Protesters from Kansas visit Kentucky

Posted: by Floyd in

This is about a Baptist Church from Kansas who go around the country protesting the war in Iraq the way they do it is not respectful of soldiers or their families, they were at Fort Cambell today with flags up-side down and this is where we were having a memorial for some of the 1o1st. that were killed in Iraq. They protested in West Virginia where the miners were killed and also last week at Coretta King's funeral,I know this sounds stupid but alas it is taking place. They reffered to us saying "You can tell the Kentucky Taliban they can't pass enough laws to shut us up."
Did I miss something here? Are these people crack-pots? What jumped out at me was the West Virgina miners, these people are not playing with a full deck here. Being a veteran myself it sounds like these people may need to go to the combat zone awhile themselves, and to all veteran's out there these scum are not the only one's you are fighting for there are millions of us who praise you for your service and know the honor that is within you is within us. Capt. Dana Krull said "Its just ironic,""They're protesting the very institution that protects their right to protest." Yes they are Capt. because they either do not know any better or it is all for publicity,I would venture to vote for the later reason because that is the only logical explanation I can come up with on this one.

The headline election-year politics imperil Bush budget.
Have we come this far that in an election year it will not work? Are they (Repugs) so afraid now of the middle-class and the poor that maybe, just maybe, they will vote? If it was not an election year would they sock us? You better believe it,if we send a bunch of these guys packing come November, will they take you serious the next time? You better believe it,but unlike a lot of the bloggers I will not say anything about who you vote for, more of the status quo, vote them back in,if you want change, then vote for change. It is like the newspapers are saying that if it was not an election year, maybe you guys would forget about the cuts into medicare, medicaid and student loans among others, would you forget? What we need is more balance in Washington,I would encourage everyone vote in your primarys and vote in the general election, let them know we do not forget.

Medicare Drug Plan,what I've learned

Posted: by Floyd in

While shopping at Wal-Mart I saw a gentleman signing up enrollees into Medicare-part-D,so I walk over and get some info. He was selling through HUMANA and was just for Kentucky in one booklet I obtained from him, question? How the basic coverage of the Medicare perscription drug plan works,#1-you pay a yearly deductible of $250,before the benefit starts,#2-then you pay 25%
of the cost of your drugs until your drug costs reach $2,250,NOTE; This is the total cost of your drugs, not just your out-of-pocket costs. #3-after that you pay 100% of your drug costs from $2,250/$5,100 in other words you pay the next $2,850. #4-then you pay 5% of your drug cost for the rest of the calender year. Sign up is November 15,2005/May 15,2006 if you don't join during this time your premiums may be increased by one percent for every month you delay.
The represenative told me he had plans from about $12/$90 a month the plan I have quoted above is about thirty some bucks a month. You will pay a copayment for each perscription drug until total drug costs reach the $2,250/Generics-$5/Perferred-$30/$35/Non-perferred-$60/
Specialty-25% coinsurance. Also of note in this book in bold print; Be careful when considering PDPs that are seperate from your MA plan. If you enroll in a PDP by itself, you may lose your existing MA benefits. So make sure they are not seperate or Medicare approved you could lose your Medicare coverage? It might be good for us to take a lawyer with us,and since there is this much red-tape involved I am wondering is it worth it,by the way I have not enrolled yet,the way it is set up it would not help that much for the headache.

An Eastern Kentucky Marine who got out of Iraq one year ago, deals with Post-traumatic stress disorder. I know none of us thought that when this war began that it would drag on this long and still with no clear exit in sight, and we support or troops in arms in their most dangerous endeavers. We keep them in our thoughts and prayers, that one day soon,we will welcome all of them home.

On the backs of the middle-class and the poor

Posted: by Floyd in

With the deficit topping 400 trillion it is time to cut benefits to the poor the middle-class,and children? As I have said many times in previous posts it boils down to the most weak in the nation
who pays the price. From what I've read into this article it is the WIC program mentenioned today, which mostly benefits children of this country and of cource medicare, medicaid and student loans. We would not have to worry about so much the visa issue if we would allow our citizens to get better education to fill these tech. jobs. But we all must make our commitment to the budget crunch to which they(administration)created themselves by foolish spending and rubber-stamping
I knew sooner or later we would have to pay up,just as I knew who would be paying for it.

Boy when they get their forks in the middle-class they do not let up till you are done baby,if we must find money for our war we must take it from the middle-class and the poor. Will congress have the guts to do it in an election year? Now if it was not an election year, that would be different after all the king is not for election.

I mean when we start printing this in the news we might have some problems, jail would be a good thing for the woman involved in this,it sounds like child molestation to me,I do not know maybe I missed something here? I guess I will go pick up a copy of Globe now and get some real news.

Check out the headlines, what our concern is the constitution, not what this guy thinks. Congress created the Patriot Act after 9/11 it was set to expire for a reason, and now they want to make something of it this thing was supposed to expire. And the Repugs like to be in control so much they do not want to let go,if we keep going at this rate, maybe we need to get a sicological evaluation?

Selling a failed plan

Bush invites people from foreign countrys to do the jobs americans can't? Teaching,Science,etc.etc.
Takes plan on the road to sell to uninformed americans,Repugs on the other hand changed faces and said we are on the side of middle-class americans, vote for us in the mid-term elections. It is also time to ask for a few more billion to fight the Iraq war this coming on the heels of cuts to the average and poor americans, through medicaid, medicare, colledge loans. This thing just goes from bad to worse every day that goes by, CNN now has video of Mexican troops on the border now it is in the news but the bloggers played a big part in getting this in the open, while Mike was still in the dark about the matter. wireservice.wired.com/w... Where do we begin? Good question I would gladly value your comments, for one the border must be secured because it could be an entrance for terrorism that in itself is enough,we are worried and the Repugs are preaching about wanting to listen in on phone calls of american citizens yet the border is being forgot, look at this in context does not it sound at best foolish and yet that is what is happening. They are cutting education, medicare and medicaid(the Repugs)yet they want $170 billion more to fund this war.

Paying the price

Well america this is it the Repugs have jammed a budget cut aimed at the middle-class with the student loans and aimed at the poor through the medicaid program, this is what I have expected when it comes time to pay up guess who suffers? Everything aimed at the middle-class and the poor to pay up now from this rubber stamp spending by the conservative congress and the King. When this happens it is always the programs that hurt the middle-class and the poor of this country,I only hope that america is awake and that the mid-term elections put a stop to this attack basically on the back-bone of america. No matter where you are on the political spectrum you have to see this as it is because I know the majority of bloggers out there are middle-class, and can here the drum banging out there now saying vote america, vote. Should always the middle-class pay for every mess that comes along? Should every screw-up be carried on our shoulders? Should our children who are trying to further their education pay for this mess? Should the poor and most needy of america be made to suffer? Should the medicare paid by me and you be a used as a pawn for the elite? Just because a congressman is from my district or yours do they have our true interests at heart? These are the questions to be asked in mid-terms these are the questions that need answers and these are questions that you and I ponder because these are questions that truely affect us and our children, our children need a good education and our elders of the country need what little money alloted to them monthly, they are cutting into medicaid, medicare and student loans are we on the right track by doing these things? Only you can answer these questions but I would only say to ponder them carefully in the up-coming elections and draw your on conclusions.
